idea

A good project starts with an honest first look. Whether you’re weighing up a site, sitting on land you already own, or planning to grow your business, we test the idea before you spend serious money on it.

What we do

Read the site or the business
‍
We look at the land, its location and its context, or the business and where it wants to go.
Check the title
‍
Encumbrances, easements and anything else on the title that could change what’s possible.
Set the objectives
‍
What you want from the project, what you can spend, and what a good result looks like for you.
Set out first options
‍
Two or more ways the project could go, each with a rough order of cost.
Desktop due diligence
‍
Zoning, planning controls, environmental and bushfire constraints, servicing and access, checked before anyone draws a line.

Questions we get asked

What should I check before buying a development site?

At a minimum: the zoning and planning controls, environmental and bushfire constraints, access to water, power and sewer, and anything registered on the title. Any of these can change what you can build, and what the land is worth to you.

Can you look at a site before I make an offer?

Yes. That’s often the best time. A desktop review before the offer tells you what to check, what to ask for, and which conditions to include so you’re not locked in if something turns up.

How long does desktop due diligence take?

Typically one to four weeks, depending on the size of the site and how much information is already available.

What happens after this stage?

If the idea holds up, the next step is a full feasibility: a financial model of the project with the worst case tested. If it doesn’t, you’ll know before you’ve committed to the purchase or the build.

Can you assess a South West site if I’m not local?

Yes. Many of our clients are based in Perth or interstate. We’re on the ground in Busselton, so we can review the site, talk to the local council and visit when needed, while you get a clear report wherever you are.
